Reader letters

Tell us which essay stayed with you, or where we should send our writers next. We read every note.

How we work with writers

Specialisedtours publishes unhurried travel writing from contributors who have spent real time in the places they describe. We favour texture over itinerary, observation over listicle. Pitches should centre a single place, season, or quiet question — and reveal something the guidebooks have missed.

We commission on a monthly cycle and pay on acceptance. New writers are paired with an editor for the duration of their piece. If your work fits our pages, you'll hear from us within four weeks; if not, we offer a short note explaining why.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pitch a story to Specialisedtours?

Email pitches@ specialisedtours with a 200-word outline, your angle, and links to two recent published pieces. We open submissions on the first Monday of each month and close when slots are filled.

Do you accept previously published work?

No. We commission original, unpublished essays only. We hold first serial rights and the work is archived on our site permanently; all other rights revert to the writer after 90 days.

What is your response time for pitches and enquiries?

General enquiries are answered within three working days. Pitches are reviewed monthly; you can expect a decision within four weeks of the submission window closing.

Can I republish or translate a Specialisedtours essay?

Please contact rights@ specialisedtours with details of the publication, language, and proposed timeline. We grant translations case by case and credit the original author.
